Marsha P. Johnson T-shirt
£20
Marsha P. Johnson was one of the most prominent figures of the gay rights movement of the 1960s and 1970s. “Pay it no mind,” she’d declare fearlessly. Always sporting a smile, Johnson was an important advocate for homeless LGBTQ+ youth, those effected by H.I.V. and AIDS, and gay and transgender rights.

MARSHA ‘PAY IT NO MIND” JOHNSON
Marsha P. Johnson, a force of unapologetic brilliance, ignited the LGBTQ+ revolution, leaving an indelible mark on the fight for equality. As a black, trans warrior, Marsha hurled bricks at oppression, co-founding the Gay Liberation Front and standing tall during the pivotal Stonewall Uprising in 1969.
After graduating high school, Marsha made her way to New York City armed with just $15 and a bag of clothes. Embracing her true self, she began dressing almost exclusively in women’s clothes and adopted the full name Marsha P. Johnson. The “P” stood for “Pay It No Mind.” To her, this was a life motto and a response to questions about her gender.
In the gritty streets of Greenwich Village, her rallying cry was a demand for visibility and justice. Marsha P. Johnson, a riotous force, forever changed the narrative. In her name, we continue to dance, resist, and celebrate the unapologetic brilliance of being true to oneself, no matter what.
