GOVERNMENT IS VIOLENCE
Marx frequently referred to the inherently violent nature of the capitalist status quo. According to him, the State is an organ of class rule, an organ for the oppression of one class by another. Marx argued that it “facilitates the order of economic freedom by means of the force of law-making violence.” One generation after the next, governments have exercised their will to power at the end of a baton, the barrel of a gun, or the tip of a pen.
